In the 21st century, mathematical literacy is as essential as verbal literacy. Without the ability to understand basic mathematical ideas, one cannot fully comprehend the modern world. The WRHS Mathematics Department, through a thorough and rigorous sequence of courses, seeks to increase the mathematical literacy of all WRHS students.

The WRHS Mathematics Program emphasizes a fundamental grounding in the basic concepts and skills of algebra and geometry, leading to students gaining a fuller understanding of statistics and probability. Students are then prepared for future mathematics courses of study and for standardized testing. In addition the program offers a variety of advanced courses in the Upper School that extend, advance, and broaden the mathematics understanding and knowledge base of all students.

Students must earn 15 credits in math to graduate. It is recommended that college-bound students take a fourth year of math.
