The start date of tryouts is Monday, August 23.
Boys’ Golf is comprised of Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. The Varsity team plays up to a 20-match schedule while the JV team will play about 12 matches. Boys from grades 9-12 who try out are eligible to make the varsity roster depending on their abilities. The Varsity roster typically carries 8 players and the JV team has 10 spots (eight play in each match). The size of both teams is limited by the availability of the course and the tee times we are afforded.  JV players may play in varsity matches during the season as well.
Try-outs are held at the start of the season at Bedrock Golf Club. Players will play up to three 9-hole rounds for tryouts this year depending on scores and ability.  Coach Guerin will reach out to players trying out in early August about making tee times through him for try-outs.  No player trying out should contact the course about making tee times for tryouts.  We will do our best to accommodate times for players, but we are limited by the course for availability.
Both teams practice Monday through Friday, immediately after school, at either Bedrock Golf Course or the driving range. Transportation is provided, which leaves the school at 2:15 p.m. to beat the buses out of the parking lot. Optional practices may be held on weekends depending on course availability. Each week a schedule of practice and match times is sent to parents and students informing them who is playing in matches and which players are practicing on which days.
Players must follow the team dress code for matches and practices. During practice, students are meant to wear polos and golf shorts/pants.  Players are not allowed to wear jeans.  No RED polos are allowed.  For matches, players must wear their team polo and black pants.  Shorts are allowed but it must be a team decision and all players must be wearing shorts for a match.
Players are instructed in sportsmanship and integrity and must adhere to the rules of golf all times.
The Boys’ and Girls’ Golf teams run a refreshment table at all Boys’ and Girls’ basketball games and winter indoor track meets. Players are expected to help at these events.

All candidates trying out for a WRHS sports team must register online. Online registration for each season's sports is available on that season's page. As each season approaches, people should connect to the individual season pages to find specific information for each sport, such as tryout times and locations.

WRHS Sports Teams' Schedules: All WRHS team schedules can be accessed online. For help navigating the site and getting instructions on receiving updates in regard to scheduling changes, click on this Parent Guide.

Payment of Athletic Fee: Parents should pay their child's athletic fee through our automated payment center. To access the sports online sports activity fee payment center, click here. There is no fee for trying out for a team. Payment should not be made until tryouts are completed and the child is named to a team roster.

Physical Examination: In addition to registering online, students must present a copy of a valid physical to the school nurse before the start of tryouts. The MIAA requires physical exams every 13 months to the day of the exam. Students are responsible for ensuring their physical is valid for the duration of the season. The students proof of a physical examination should be completed by the family's physician.

Playing a high school sport requires of students a large commitment. Athletes at the varsity level make a tremendous investment of time, effort, and energy. This commitment comes on top of their primary focus on their academic classes. Students who choose to play a sport should be aware of the expectations of their chosen sport. All fall sports teams begin practice before school begins in August, and at the varsity level, most teams practice on weekends and school vacations. In addition, athletes are often expected to take part in off-season workouts and in-season conditioning sessions. Wachusett Regional High School encourages students to play a sport and get involved in extracurricular activities, but we want everyone to be aware of what is involved. The expectations for each sport can be found on the individual season pages. Parents or athletes who have questions should contact the coach of that sport.

WRHS Athletics Department Policy on Social Media: Students are reminded to use good judgment in their use of all social media. The full Athletic Department policy on Social Networking and Media can be found here.
