Important Information for Fall Sports Tryouts:
  • All student-athletes arriving on campus must wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times.  Failure to wear your mask or social distance will result in your dismissal from practice/tryouts.
  • Students must come ready to play.  There will be no access to the school building.
  • Students are allowed to bring one (1) bag to tryouts/practice.  Bags will be placed 6 ft. apart from one another.  Bags should contain enough water for your entire practice/game/event.  Bags should also contain hand sanitizer, extra mask(s), change of shoes if applicable, extra clothing.
  • Students will be required to check in on a daily basis via a QR code that will be placed in multiple locations across campus.  The QR code will link to a series of questions regarding COVID symptoms that each student-athlete must complete daily.  You will also have the option of completing the symptom questionnaire on this web page.  The link is in development, and will be posted prior to tryouts.
  • Parents may not enter the athletic facility during the tryout period.  


Fall Golf Information

Golf tryouts will be held at Bedrock Golf Course in Paxton.  Players must have their own equipment and mask.  All players must contact Coach Guerin (nicholas_guerin@wrsd.net) to sign up for TWO tee times at Bedrock on the following dates -
Friday 9/18         3:20PM - 4:00PM        5 tee times  (20 total players)
Saturday 9/19     4:15PM - 5:00PM        5 tee times (20 total players)
Sunday 9/20       1:00PM - 4:20PM        7 tee times (28 total players)
Monday 9/21       3:20PM - 4:00PM       5 tee times (20 total players)


Field Hockey

All candidates should report to the turf field on Friday, September 18 at 3:30 pm.  Tryouts will run from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

Boys' Cross Country

Monday, September 21:  All candidates will meet on the platform behind the gym at 3:30 pm

Girls' Cross Country
Friday, September 18:  All candidates will meet in the faculty parking lot, outside the Athletic Director's office.

Girls' Soccer

Friday, September 18th:   5pm-6:30pm Returning Varsity only

Saturday, September 19th:
               7am - Freshman Last Names beginning with A-N.  Tryouts will run from 7am-8:30 am

               9:15 am - Freshman Last Names O-Z.  Tryouts will run from 9:15-10:45 am

                12 pm noon- Soph, JR, SR.  Last Names A-K.  Tryouts will run from 12-1:30 pm

                2:30 pm-Soph, JR, SR. Last Names L-Z.  Tryouts will run from 2:30-4:00 pm

Wachusett Regional High School fields 26 girls and boys sports teams during the fall, winter, and spring seasons, at the varsity, JV, and freshman levels. The cost to participate in a sport is $250/athlete per athletic season with a maximum of $350/family per season. All candidates trying out for a WRHS sports team must register online. Online registration for each season's sports is available on that season's page. As each season approaches, people should connect to the individual season pages to find specific information for each sport, such as tryout times and locations. 

WRHS Sports Teams' Schedules: All WRHS team schedules can be accessed online. For help navigating the site and getting instructions on receiving updates in regard to scheduling changes, click on this Parent Guide.

Payment of Athletic Fee: Parents should pay their child's athletic fee through our automated payment center. To access the sports online sports activity fee payment center, click here. There is no fee for trying out for a team. Payment should not be made until tryouts are completed and the child is named to a team roster.

Physical Examination: In addition to registering online, students must present a copy of a valid physical to the school nurse before the start of tryouts. The MIAA requires physical exams every 13 months to the day of the exam. Students are responsible for ensuring their physical is valid for the duration of the season. The students proof of a physical examination should be completed by the family's physician.

NO ONLINE REGISTRATION + NO PHYSICAL = NO TRYOUT

Playing a high school sport requires of students a large commitment. Athletes at the varsity level make a tremendous investment of time, effort, and energy. This commitment comes on top of their primary focus on their academic classes. Students who choose to play a sport should be aware of the expectations of their chosen sport. All fall sports teams begin practice before school begins in August, and at the varsity level, most teams practice on weekends and school vacations. In addition, athletes are often expected to take part in off-season workouts and in-season conditioning sessions. Wachusett Regional High School encourages students to play a sport and get involved in extracurricular activities, but we want everyone to be aware of what is involved. The expectations for each sport can be found on the individual season pages. Parents or athletes who have questions should contact the coach of that sport.
